As the appropriate usage of Artificial Intelligence tools varies throughout the university and, specifically, varies course-by-course and even between assignments in the same course, all students are encouraged to review each course’s specific syllabus for guidance on the allowable use of AI in that circumstance.

Catholic University’s Approach to using AI is built upon three key principles:

  1. We should conceive of this as human-machine teams, with the human person, made in the image and likeness of God, at the center.
  2. The interaction should be designed such that the outcome encourages a growth in virtue of the person. The opposite should be strictly avoided.
  3. The final result should be an authentic human encounter. Either a person-to-person, person-to-God, or self reflection.
